AOL: The best of Charlotte winners are...

We all love “best-of” lists, and this week, AOL has unveiled a new list of bars, restaurants and hotspots that it is touting as the “best” in Charlotte.

Charlotte is among 25 U.S. cities that are a part of AOL’s “City’s Best” program, which used editors and writers to select their favorite food, entertainment and lifestyle venues; users of the site were then asked to vote for their favorites, from the editors’ and writers’ lists.

The voting was held at www.citysbest.com between Oct. 13 and Nov. 30, and an AOL spokesperson said “thousands” of people participated in the selection process. Here are the winners:

Best After-Work Bar: Rí Rá Irish Pub, 208 N. Tryon St.

Best Burgers: Penguin Drive-In, 1921 Commonwealth Ave.

Best Cheap Eats: Amélie’s French Bakery & Café, 2424 N. Davidson St.

This list is not indicative of the actual city of Charlotte. My assumption is that the majority of voters live out of town and got all of their information off Mapquest.

I could roll with most of it but was suprised by a few...Visualite instead of Neighborhood Theatre, Hickory Tavern instead of Picassos, and Luisas instead of Hawthornes...but would be interested in others picks

It amazes me that people in Charlotte think chain restaurants are the best. Some people really need to get out more.

anon 4:01 What Chinese restaurant am I missing out on?

The selections for Burgers, Chinese, and Pizza demonstrate what an incredible herd of idiots there are infesting this city.

This can't be a list actually created by people who live in Charlotte - Amelies is not that cheap, best dive has to be Eds, no chain restaraunt is the best, and best burgers are at Big Daddys.

Seriously, this is the list? P.F Changs as the "best" Chinese? I could go to P.F. Changs anywhere in the world, and you're telling me that is the BEST Chinese Charlotte has to offer? What about places like "Great Wall of China, South," "House of Taipei," or "Saigon Palace?" This list is a joke!
