James Taylor, in concert... for $5,000?

During the Democratic National Convention, James Taylor performed two free shows -- one during CarolinaFest and another (less-accessible one) before President Obama's acceptance speech.

If you missed both of those concerts, the singer-songwriter/guitarist will give another one on Friday, Oct. 12, in Blowing Rock. He will be performing as part of a fundraising dinner and concert to support Obama's re-election campaign.

And this one won't be free. Tickets for the concert at the Westglow Resort and Spa are $1,000 apiece, or $2,500 each if you want to add "dinner and conversation with James Taylor." Anyone under 30 can get in for just $500.

Westglow is situated around an elegant mansion with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and was ranked the No. 2 destination spa in the world by Travel + Leisure Magazine in 2011.

For more information and to purchase tickets, call 828-295-5146.

James likes to tell us all he's a man of the "ordinary people" and that the wealthy are destroying America.

Wonder how many of his "ordinary people" are going to fork over $2500 to hear him rail against Romney.

Wow, another dopey liberal that hates capitialism while charging $2500 to hear this hypocrite.. No wonder he is a liberal.. Hey whiberals, do you know what he pays in in captial gains tax? the same as Romney does, thumb suckers.

Maybe he can do a double-bill with Streisand for $10K.

This is a fund raiser, just like Mitt Romney (German for "With Romney") has, except you get to hear James Taylot.

You lot probably loved him until you "discovered" he was liberal. Like that's been a secret since he started out in the late 60s.

Sheesh. Go watch Mitt smirk as he uses the death of Americans doing their jobs as a political tool and then get back to me.

If you are under 30, $500. Wow. There was a motto that went "never trust anyone over 30". Must be the nosebleed seats for that price.

Wow! That's a lot of money for a concert. As a Libertarian I'd like for ALL people that extort the release of tax info do likewise. If you enjoy JT and can afford the price tag, have a lot of fun.

Really JT??? That's a bit excessive don't you think??? Starting to lose my love for you! So many that would love to see this concert and are loyal concert goers, simply can't afford this! Have you heard...we are out of work? The economy has tanked?? Not liking this at all!

How expensive it is,,,,to go hear you sing.

It's a fund raising dinner, not just a JT concert.

Seems like people just enjoy compaining about everything - whether it is real or not!

Democrats are quick to bash the 1% but look who they love to hang out with! They call Republicans "elitist" but surround themselves with Hollywood celebrities and Billionaires like Warren Buffet and George Soros.

When will you people wise up and realize that you are being had?

Warren, Romney is just saying what many of us have been saying for four years... that we are sick and tired of a President who seems to believe that his job is Apologist in Chief!

Maybe it is a fundraiser, but where in the write-up does it say that?

Anonymous said...

It doesn't say it. Théoden left out a key part of the story.

However, it is pretty obvious that the concert isn't the regular run-of-the-mill James Taylor concert. A quick google search tells you it's a fundraiser.

I'm thinking a vasectomy without being knocked out and doped up after is more fun and beneficial
