Paul McCartney headed to Charlotte

Paul McCartney has announced another date of his 2010 'Up and Coming' tour. He'll make a stop at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on July 28.

In keeping with his headline-making special concerts over the last few years, the tour will see the iconic star and his band play unique venues, places and locations; new cities he’s never played and familiar markets he’s not visited for a while.

This will be Paul’s first appearance in Charlotte since 1993’s mega ‘New World Tour.’ Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 12 at 10 am at livenation.com, Ticketmaster and the Time Warner Cable Arena Box Office. To charge call 800-745-3000.

These new dates are in keeping with Paul’s huge headline making concerts over the last few years, where the world’s biggest rock star has played to millions of people across the globe.

The new tour will feature a typically diverse set list, drawing on two hours plus worth of selections spanning the catalogues of The Beatles, Wings and Paul’s solo career - including tracks from The Fireman’s 2008 album ‘Electric Arguments’. Recent Up and Coming shows have featured never-before-played-on-US-soil songs added to the set list, such as "Ob La Di Ob La Da" as well as other gems dusted off from the extensive and legendary Beatles, Wings and McCartney solo canon.

  1. Since Paul announced two days ago at the White House he is a staunch supporter of using libraries, perhaps he will donate $2 million dollars to the Mecklenburg County Library system when he comes to Charlotte.

  2. I would go but after seeing that disgusting performance at the White House the other night, I'll pass. Paul, please go back to your home country and get invloved in politics there. We don't need you.

  3. Republicans hate anything associated with education. If you are smart, it means your an elitist and that means you aren't American -- in their eyes. haha So as long as we take away libraries and create a stupid society, there will be plenty of dumb Conservatives to vote in their interests.

  4. Anon 10:34 I second that. With him being a billionaire who always "feels the pain of little people" that shouldn't be a problem.

  5. disgusting performance??...wow~ I thought it was great. We do need Paul in Charlotte. He has produced fabulous music that has stood the test of time. Looking forward to his concert. Go OBAMA!! woo-hoo

  7. Sir Paul is the greatest pop song writer in history. Whether you're a "Lennon" or a "McCartney", there is no doubting that no one comes close to McCartney when it comes to writing an enduring melody.

I didn't know that the teacher unions, who hijacked public education and turned it into a constant farming of uneducated voters, are conservative. That would explain their sorry state and also why 97% of A-A's voted for the current president (who btw is a product of private schools from elementary through college (elitist, anyone?)).

  9. If you don't like Paul, don't comment! Don't go to the show, don't buy his records. Thanks. ;) You all also need to do your homework of all the charities Paul supports and gives money to.

This show is gonna sell out! Just like all his shows do. :)

  10. I always liked his music but I don't think I could stomach looking at him or listening to him after his "support Obama, diss Bush" rant. No thanks - I'll pass.

  11. Notice he hasn't renounced his knighthood for what the Royals did to Diana.

Easy to come here and diss our country eh Paul?

  13. Hailing from England and having earned no university degrees of his own, Mr. McCartney may not know GWB was the first American president to earn a master’s degree in business administration. (The fact the MBA is from Harvard really irks the left.) Not to mention Bush is married to a librarian.

Great, more room for me to see since your big head wont be on the way. By all means - STAY HOME PLEASE.

  16. I was thinking the same thing - a date of the show would've been a nice touch to the story.

  17. Oh how sweet it is when the shoe is on the other foot... You had your eight years of pain and glory with W. Yuck, yuck, yuck, toothy silly grin... couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag. Now at least we have a President who can present himself well. Palin isn't your savior either, she is a right wing nut. If that is the best you can offer up in 2012, get ready for two terms of Democrats in the White House. As Paul sings, maybe by then "We Can Work It Out." It will probably take that long to correct all the "Bushisms" of the past. LOL!

  18. They changed the headline ! I guess they messed up and weren't supposed to list the date yet.

    Here's the original headline:
    Paul McCartney headed to Charlotte
Paul's first N.C. concert in 17 years will take place at the Time Warner Cable Arena on July 28.

  19. Paul McCartney should pay for the Charlotte libraries? Are you Karl Marx?

Is there some reason why the people who use it shouldn't pick up the tab?

Since the world plus dog seem to think the world ends if a library goes to reduced hours, won't they be delighted to actually shell out some of THEIR OWN MONEY for this life or death service? Why not?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Maybe it will also be another 17 years before we hear the brilliant comment: "Drill Baby Drill " !

Sarah, where have you been since the BP disaster ?
What ? No more drilling ?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Fantastic ! Is it true that there will be ZERO Republicans at the concert ?

That's worth the ticket price alone.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Amazing how this turned political because the president is a Democrat

    ReplyDelete
  23. "How can you write for a major newspaper and leave out something as vital as the date of the concert?"

Regurgitating press releases for old, worn-out pop music hucksters is not "writing" and the CO is hardly a "major" paper.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Worn out pop music ?

Hello, the Beatles......... ever hear of them ?
Started the entire rock -n-Roll culture.

Oh wait, rock is EVIL to the GOP.
So sorry, I forgot just how insane you are.

    ReplyDelete
  25. No, it turned political because Republicans cannot stand to hear anyone say anything nice about a Democrat... Especially a Democrat who is in office... Republicans are all about giving their "respected" opinion while not even wanting to hear anybody else's.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The concert is July 28th, as stated in the article's first paragraph. Not sure how this turned political, but if you're going to complain about every rich, know it all celeb that disses the right wing, quit your day job...And if you're an Obama support A. you're a communist, and B. if you're best argument is that he's better than Sarah Palin, pretty weak. Sooner or later you'll have to stop blaming everything on the Bush Administration.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Paul - Go back to England and smoke some more reefer you lousy Obamabot.

    ReplyDelete
  28. By accusing Obama supporters of being Communists you only make my point stronger. You are the only one who is right, everybody else is wrong. Oh, I forgot, you and Joe McCarthy...

  29. 11:22 - I suggest you grow up. 11:18, in cased you missed it, every mid term Dem is avoiding Acorn Boy like he is the plague. He lost in Mass, VA and Maryland and endorsed Spector and this Nov will present a crushing defeat for the surrender libs in both the Senate and House. Sometimes, I wish I was as ignorant as you libs, it must be bliss.

Nothing like bringing an aging, washed up greenie weenie to Charlotte. The same grennie weenie that once bought a "enviromentally" friendly car from Japan and had it flown to England.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 11:49 - Sounds like you and Sarah may have had an inappropriate relationship at some time in the past! :) Speaking of bliss, sounds like you are having a great day! Try some green tea.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Great!!!!! Every man is entitled to his political views get over it GOP!!! You will not be missed if you do not attend.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can't beleive this turned into a political rant. Paul and the Beatles are/were one of the best bands of all time!

All artists show political views, but that's not going to stop me from respecting them for their music. Especially with Paul because he does most of the work himself. Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  33. GOP's wont attend because they wont pay more than $25 for a ticket. They are the cheapest form of life next to the infamous Southern GOP.

    ReplyDelete
  34. These comments are a big reason why I've become so disenfranchised about politics. Most of the news talk radio/tv is eerily similar to the old days of the NWA wrasslin smack talkin interviews.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dusty Rhodes versus Nakita Kolov! Yeah, babay!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah, but as usual look what party started the B.S. about something as innocent as a concert. It's always the Repukeblicans.

    ReplyDelete
  37. They always start it. Their way or the highway.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Comments on this board prove that the GOP is SOL. As you fall further and further behind, Palin and Beck are laughing all the way to her bank.

  39. Heh Heh Heh

Drill Baby Drill. Good one. Nice to see the oil mess is drifting over to Florida now. The entire gulf coast of Florida is primarily Republican.

    Enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow, amazing how Bush can get blamed for the hurricane mess, but the current doofus-in-charge gets a pass from the liberals on doing zero with this environmental disaster. Hey geniuses, did you realize that if the liberals would let us drill in our own country ON LAND, we wouldn't have so many offshore rigs and wouldn't have to be dependent on terrorist states for our oil and gas? IDIOTS. As far as McCartney, he was relevant about 40 years ago. I loved the Beatles, but paying to see this stereotypical left-coast-minded political airhead/mysoginist ramble through stale Wings songs and various solo nonsense is not worth the $200, or whatever outrageous sum Live Nation decides to charge you for it...along with the normal $34 service fees, $12 processing fee, $17 parking fee, etc. ad nauseum. Paul, go assist with the UK's politics. We're having enough fun here on our own in with the 3 Stooges running our country into a black hole. The fact that you kiss Jimmy Carter Junior's butt just showed us all how truly ignorant you are. In case you didn't know, this regime doesn't give out knighthoods over here...just government jobs. Get in line Pauly boy. Send Ringo over, at least he's funny.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nobody is saying Obama is doing a bang up job with the gulf. But this not an act of nature. THis is an act of a greedy corporation who didn't have procedures in place to handle such a disaster.

All that's being said is that you GOP wankers wanted to "drill baby drill". So this is the outcome of greed and stupidity.

Own up to it you little b!tch. This is more your mess and your party's mess than it is Obama's.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 12:38 - mysoginist? I think you are going to need penicillin to get rid of that!

    ReplyDelete
  43. --->>>Amazing how this turned political because the president is a Democrat<<<---

No, this turned political when a has-been rocker from a monarchy made a derogatory comment about a former President who happens to be a Republican in the PEOPLE'S house.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wow! So all of you haters (both sides) are mostly going to be there? I mean, did you even listen to the message The Beatles left us? Why with anyone with any hate in their heart even want to be anywhere near this concert? If you do come, please leave the politics at the door.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't honestly think the Beatles or Rolling Stones are the best in rock and roll. Personally, I think they suck. After Paul's little disparaging comments the other night about our former President (whether you like him or not, GWB was our U.S. leader and he's dissing our country) I certainly like him even less. To me, I equate it with someone coming into my house and berating a family member. It may be the sibling I fight with constantly but, only family is allowed to pick on him. Outside people are not and have just become unwelcome guests and will be shown the door.

  46. "All that's being said is that you GOP wankers wanted to "drill baby drill". So this is the outcome of greed and stupidity.

Own up to it you little b!tch. This is more your mess and your party's mess than it is Obama's."

Really? I wonder if Obama has made plans to return the $1 mil he received from oil companies...think he will?

Did you notice McCartney still blamed "the last 8 years?" A year and a half of that has been Obama and 6 and a half of Bush's. So, is he accusing obama of being an idiot, too? how long will libs use "last 8 years" as an argument for what is happening now? Because the longer he's in office, the more obama has to "own up to it you little b!tch."

    ReplyDelete
  47. McCartney didn't just diss President Bush, he was disrespectful of the US as a whole. As a visitor to this country, he showed very poor judgement and a disturbing lack of respect for the country which has been a significant source of much of his wealth and notoriety. He owns the American public and President Bush an apology for his inappropriate remarks.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Just purchased 4 tickets, can't wait! And while all you idiots are at it, yes I do (and will continue to) blame Bush for all the nonsense we and our president are dealing with. Ever throw a party in high school when the parents were away? Always takes 2, 3 times longer to clean up the mess, right? What do I know though..must be my fancy liberal communist post secondary socialist education that allows me to think for myself rather than be told by a fat, prescription drug abusing sociopath what to think. I can smell this country getting dumber...

  49. Don't be too hard on Paul. Even the Maharishi fooled him, so how hard can it be?

  50. Sir Paul and I have something in common: I haven't written a decent song in 40 years either.
