  1. My family loves elephants that is why we don’t go to circuses with performing animals anymore. After learning about what life is really like for circus elephants we realized there’s no family fun to be had at an event that involves abusing and beating these majestic animals to make them entertain us for a few minutes. We would never condone or allow someone to abuse and beat our family animals to make them perform.
Instead we support the two elephant sanctuaries in the US. We can watch via a web cam elephants living in a natural setting The Elephant Sanctuary in Hohenwald, Tennessee and PAWS in California. Your family can learn about the 25 elephants many who are former circus elephants that have lived there since being rescued.

  2. Ellie, you shouldn't believe EVERYTHING you hear about Circuses (particularly Ringling Brosl), especially if you're hearing information from PETA, whose sole tactics are to misconstrue truth, smear, and slander the names of many organizations THEY don't agree with. They're fanaticism (in a tainted way) at it's best.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion (being against animals entertaining us is not a bad opinion; I can respect that) but don't bash Ringling (or use blanket statements) when you probably haven't taken the time to actually research how Ringling trains it's animals and the investment of money, time, and care they put towards their human/animal relationship. If you did, you'd be very surprised!

  3. It is not an opinion when there has been actual recent video of the elephants being abused by hooks from the trainers. Look it up on You Tube or watch the news sometimes. I love circuses, but I can not condone any longer what they are doing for "performance art." I would rather go see Cirque De Solie or see the show without the animals.

  4. There is irrefutable proof presented at a federal trial in 2009 that proves this elephant abuse occurs, you can read testimony and watch videos of Ringling Bros employees beating the hell out of these elephants. I read the entire trial transcript and I have no doubts about this animal abuse. http://www.bornfreeusa.org/a1a6a_courtdocuments.php
I’ve read everything Ringling’s has posted about the excellent care they provide their animals, so why do they beat and use electric prods on their baby elephants to train them? “Anonymous”, you shouldn’t believe everything Ringling’s tells you, when you read all those court documents come back and try and tell me again that I’ve got it all wrong. None of this information comes from PETA, but the videos they have obtained confirm this animal abuse happens often.

I’ve read everything Ringling’s posted about their CEC and the excellent care they provide, so why do they repeatedly use a bullhook to beat, jab and electric prod on their baby elephants? “Anonymous”, you shouldn’t believe everything Ringling’s tells you, the truth is in those court documents, and it is shocking how they have hidden this abuse. PETA was not part of this trial, but the videos and pictures they have obtained confirm this animal abuse.
