Fantasia is pregnant with second child

CNN.com is reporting that singer Fantasia Barrino has finally confirmed rumors that she is expecting a child. The news was revealed during a concert Sunday.

"God has given me this child and I don't have to hide it from none of y'all," CNN quoted Barrino as saying to fans at the outdoor show in Jacksonville, Fla.

According to the story, the 2004 "American Idol" winner did not give a due date or identify the father. Her manager did not immediately respond to CNN requests for information.

Fantasia's career has been both a fairy tale and a cautionary tale. She grew up in poverty in High Point, was raped as a teenager and dropped out of high school having never learned to read. Then -- on the strength of powerhouse vocals but also her hard-luck story as a teenage mom -- she won "American Idol's" third season in 2004.

Her debut album was a success, and she landed a starring role on Broadway in "The Color Purple." But Fantasia had financial troubles practically from the get-go -- credit delinquency involving a $240,000 Mercedes, liens on her first house, unpaid fees on back taxes on her second.

More than 3-1/2 years passed between her second and third albums. Then, weeks before the release of her long-awaited comeback album last summer, the story of her romantic involvement with a married Charlotte man came out. The 26-year-old singer landed in CMC-Pineville days later, on Aug. 9, 2010, due to an overdose of aspirin and sleeping pills.

  2. What a trash bucket!!! You can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl. Once again this UGLY excuse for a woman is having a fatherless child? Why? Her fifteen minutes were over long ago and ANYONE who watches her "show" is just pitiful. Train wreck is the term that comes to mind.

  3. "God" ? I had no idea that God was a married Charlotte man... Someone alert the churches!

  4. I was rooting for you 'Tasia but you have truly gone off the deep end. Bringing a child in the world in the midst of the madness that is your life is not cool. You obviously know all about birth control since you have managed to prevent pregnancy for 10 years. One can only assume that becoming pregnant was a choice you made and not an accident.

  5. Trash with money. For now.

  6. Hopefully this child will be able to learn how to sign his name instead of how Fantasia signed the mortage for her home... with an "X"

  7. Why is it every time a black woman has a child it has to be referred to as a "welfare baby" you "people" need to get a grip. Fantasia probably has more money than you will ever have in your sad little empty life....

  8. First a great article about a great show and entertainer Sade that was in Charlotte last night. And now all of a sudden we're graced with a pic of Fanny talking about her second child.............wow!

  10. Welfare! She is a superstar, I doubt she would have any intake on welfare. Not every black individual is on public assistance or lives in the ghetto. She is a grammy award winning artist, so do your research before before you start talking trash.

  11. Thrash with money. She declared bankruptcy on her $800,000 house in Charlotte and we the tax payers had had the privelege of picking up the tab. I hope she knows who the father is, that would be a welcome relief in the failed culture that is black innner city community.

  12. I agree w the comment as to why bring a child into a disfunctional home. why would God not tell you to do it the right way---with a husband. what type of example are you setting for your daughter? that its ok to have premarital sex without protection? Has anyone read the statics for HIV lately. I am a black woman for the record.

  13. If God has given her this child, does that make it an immaculate conception? Wow! Those don't come around very often.

Somebody really needs to alert the Pope. He'll probably want to make a big fuss over it.

  14. @6:43pm...A superstar? Bahahahahaha. Not even close.

  15. What a great example Fantasia is. She:
    -Can't read or write
    -Tried to kill herself
-Can't manage the money she HAD
-Let two different guys who weren't married to her get her pregnant.

Who cares if she at one point had a ton of money, I can assure you she will be broke by 40, if not much, much sooner.

  19. I totally agree with Anonymous 5:24! "You can take the girl out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the girl." Very well said and AMEN! This chick depreciated the moment she stepped off the Idol stage just like the moment you drive a new car off the lot of a dealership!

  20. No one called fantasia a nigg--, but someone has to call white people crackers!!! THAT is where the real racism lies. Black hatred for whites-the most VIRULENT rtacism in the world.

Really, are you serious. White racism is in most of you people at the cellular level. I think it is a genetic defect with whites.

  29. I am so sick of her ghetto parties in my upscale Glynmoor Lakes at Piper Glen community. We pay good money to live in an upscale neighborhood like this, we shouldn't have to deal with the trash and noise.

her house, her money, she can do what she wants. if it bothers you that much, get da phuck out! it must not be too big of a problem because we have not heard of the police being called over and over and over and shutting down these so-called "ghetto parties" as you refer to them as...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Never heard of her but that chick has, obviously, a rather extensive "anti Fantasia " group going on.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow! Some people are so simple and ignorant! It is her choice and her life. With that being said, people can choose to write offensive negative comments and act like a donkey! You chose to read the article, chose to still live in the neighborhood she resides in. If she ever does start recieving welfare and assistance, oh well! You shouldn't associated Welfare with just African Americans or Blacks unless you are racist, bottom line! Ignorant people!!

  34. I feel that she is the only one that has to care for the baby so no one else shouldnt worry about her. i think you guys should focus on your own life!
