Another plot twist in 'Bachelorette' cheating story

OK, what in the world is going on here?

First, a report started circulating Wednesday that Charlotte single mom Emily Maynard had been caught cheating and was kicked to the curb by fiance/Utah entrepreneur Jef Holm (see story here). A few hours later, People.com broke a completely contradictory story after interviewing Maynard and Holm, who denied the breakup rumors. "It's one hundred percent not true," Maynard said.

Sounded pretty good to us. After all, why would the couple have any reason at all to lie about this? And yet, US Weekly seems pretty determined to not let this go.

The magazine is reporting today that Holm's brother, Mike Holm, witnessed the whole fight between Maynard and Jef Holm, which allegedly involved explicit text messages Maynard received from another man. According to reports, this happened during a family vacation at a beach house in Pawleys Island, S.C.; many members of Holm's extended family were present, as was Maynard's 7-year-old daughter, Ricki.

Mike Holm told US Weekly: "I can tell you that it's all 100 percent true. I was there and I heard the fight and watched the whole thing go down, Emily leaving and everything. I love my brother very much and, like the rest of our family, I just want him to be happy."

Obviously, someone's not being 100 percent truthful. But who is it?

  1. Gee, that's a real tough one. Hmmm. Do we really expect a person having an affair will tell the truth? You can fill in the blanks.

  12. Why are people so hell bent on them failing? And why do people HATE Emily so freakin' much?? Because she is beautiful? Because she has cash and doesn't need a man for that? I mean, how many of you making nasty comments about her know her, or Jef personally? Mike Holm would not be the first person in the history of tabloids to lie for money. Unhappy people are so eager for those they perceive as happy to fail. Sad, sad, sad. Even worse, you are speaking about the mother of a 7 year old child. I know all of you are so perfect, you are beyond reproach...it is clearly proven by all of the lovely comments.

  13. Anon at 8:08pm....YOU may think Emily is beautiful. But to others she looks good at first, worse as you look closer, and loses ALL appeal as soon as she opens her mouth. And SHE has money....or her family has money that they give to her? Big difference. And so what if she is the mother of a 7 year old....she asked to be in the public eye like this, which includes the good and the bad.

  14. Again, you prove my point. Do you know Emily?? So what if it is her family's money. Are you telling me that you would turn down money if your family offered it to you?? Sounds like jealousy to me. That is one of the mail reasons people bully. Celebrity or no, people like you are being bullies. I'm sure you, as upstanding as you seem to be, agree that no one deserves to be bullied. I personally cannot think of anything uglier than a bully.

  16. 1233Jef's a better look man than Emily is a woman. Her looks are average average. It's her personality that's ugly.

  17. Let's try this again. The site didn't post what I actually typed. "Jef's a better looking man than Emily is a woman. She's average. It's her personality that's ugly."

  18. Anon 11:19 You really think your post was worth re-doing?

Again, manners cost nothing. Where are yours?

  19. Emily comes across as a phony. And she is totally self centered. Every time she opens her mouth it is I, me, my, etc. All she can talk about is herself. Even when she mentions her daughter it is Emily patting herself on the back for being the greatest mom in the world. She chose to become a public figure, the exposure has shown the world what she is about, so now she can deal with the criticism. She asked for the attention.
