The circus parades its prisoners through downtown.

I hope they don't use it in the storm drains like the occupiers...we may have to call in hazmat.

This is just gross. I'm a little surprised ppl still take their families to see this. Where is the empathy for the elephants and other animals that are chained up, living a life of solitude just for our entertainment... ?

@ 4PM, sometimes the best part of the show is walking by the lame protestors. Until these folks who are up in arms take the plight of the unborn among their priorities, their views hold little relevance to the big picture. The circus will continue to be good wholesome family entertainment.

so, all you PETA people... what's the alternative? A circus WITHOUT animals? How much fun would that be?

@ 4:15, I agree. I am not one that condones animal abuse and if it does exist in the biz, it must be stopped, but some people need to get a grip and realize that you cannot place human dignity on something that isn't human. If so, let's start suing the neighborhood stray for going OWS on our lawns. I don't trust any PETA propagana...

This 'walk of shame' is truly despicable. This is not wholesome family entertainment. Since when is cruelty to animals wholesome and something that you want to expose your children to? I am 'one of those Peta people' and thank goodness for people like us who speak up for those who cannot. We will be there tonight, and every other show in every single city until this abuse stops. Think about it...in what world would or should an elephant perform tricks for our entertainment. Pure exploitation and it is wrong.

Amen, 4:13. Amen. You hit the nail on the head big time with that statement.

SJ, your passion about righting a "wrong" is to be admired, but please tell me where during PETA's conversations with the animals they explicitly stated they do not enjoy performing for its millions of fans? I agree, in the case of abuse, it shouldn't be accepted, but an elephant painting is no different that a dog fetching your slippers or playing catch. Is that PETA approved?

Hey SJ, do you invest your time and energy speaking up for the 329,445 children that were killed last year by Planned Parenthood using $487.4M of US taxpayer money?

Those are real numbers. And you are sincerely worried about animals that generally speaking eat and live better than the entire nation of Haiti? Please stop. And please stay home. You are embarrasing yourself and ruining the experience for everyone else.

The circus is a very nice way to spend time with your family. Stop walking your dogs with a leash, then we'll talk about cruelty.

Well, yes. Don't know if you've ever heard of Cirque du Soliel, but it is incredible beyond anything you can imagine. And there are no animals. Zero. All people performers.

I've been to the Ringling Brothers zoo in Florida. They do not hurt the animals, all animals are free in there own area, to run and walk and be free. These animals they have, has been hurt from other people like hunters, and taking away from people who had them as babies, and they can't go back into the wild. These animals are not harmed, they are only chained up when they are her to give us something to look at with our children, so if you have comments, you need to do your homework first.

@4:15, Ever heard of Cirque Du Soleil? Yep, it's a circus without animals. Go figure!

PETA = People Eat Tasty Animals
If they worried about their fellow humans to the degree seen here our world woud be better, instead they project human feelings on nonhuman beings.

@4:13pm.
I strongly advocate for the plight of the unborn elephants. As for humans, who are you tell a woman what rights she has with her body.
It's fitting you equate your opinions to the circus.

@ January 31, 2012 11:39 PM, that is the staple argument of the "Left" that it is the woman's body. Maybe someday those in power will change the current legislation that allows for murder of convenience that takes place in hospitals, clinics, etc. I wonder how these same pro-murder folks would feel if there were medical tests that could prove if your baby would be born "gay" and those were being systematically murdered? What crazy times we live in...as a society we will be judged by how we treat the least of our brothers and sisters.
