Alive After Five returns to uptown April 5

Warm weather is back, and with it comes a Charlotte tradition: Alive After Five, which will be celebrating its 11th Anniversary this year.

Sponsored by AT&T, the Thursday after-work party takes place at 5 p.m. at Wells Fargo Plaza, 301 S. Tryon St. The 2012 season kicks off with a performance by Charlotte party band Hot Sauce.

Wells Fargo Plaza will host Alive After Five each Thursday during April. Beginning May 3, the event shifts to the Pavilion at EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St., where it will continue every Thursday through Sept. 13.

The Pavilion has purchased two huge tents to keep guests sheltered from the elements during summer showers, and when it rains, Alive After Five will pour with drink specials including $3 Bud Light drafts.

@ 2:19,

I don't know the rules of your native language, but in English we don't use an apostrophe to create the plural.

Agreed with the first post. I used to go years back, and it was fun at times. But the two times I went last year, it was horrible. Nothing but fake tans and people trying to outdress each other. There is no substance to anyone there. Go to NODA if you are looking for real people. Go to Alive After Five if you think Jersey Shore is a great TV show.

I'd give $3 for a pickled buffalo tongue.

I can't sit and watch AA5's name be soiled like this. It's not Jersey Shore at all! At least not last year! It's a great time to be outside in a beautiful setting and enjoy time with friends. I love walking over from my apartment with friends to wind down and see where the night goes. While it's at Epicentre you can head over to Howl at the Moon for a dueling piano show and $1 coors, without paying cover.

It's time to get my game on and set my facebook status back to "single."

Too funny! All these suburbanites trying to rip downtown before piling in the car trying to beat the early dinner crowd at Applebees. Do hurry. I'm sure the latest faux reality show starts at 8:00 sharp.

HAHAHAHA, the child above called it "downtown". You can spot a transplant easily!

Oh, don't worry....the name of 'AA5' has been soiled ever since they let that bastardized Eppysinner takeover. It should have remained where it was. Now it's nothing but an abortion.

There may be uptown workers that go, but the eppysinner just wanted more money and it's something else to add to the list that they've ruined. Now it's mostly Jersey Shore, Kiss95.1 (Gangster Rap) wannabe's who are used to being out on weekenights for their partying.

Pass on this and you'll be doing yourself a favor.

It was fun back in the day but now it's not the same. Keeping it at its original location was important. I don't like the Epicenter or the people that patronize it.

A couple of well placed cell phone blockers would do a world of good.

Bye bye kiddos, hello conversation.

What the _____ does this have to do with cell phones? Good God....

How illogical and insensitive to begin this event on a day that is both Good Friday and the first night of Passover. Did I miss anything else?

Not surprised said...

It's simply an event to get people together and maybe have a good time... Why so much venom? If it's not for you , fine. Amazing to me that people feel so compelled to have such strong opinions about something so irrelevant. Really?

I'v always gotten lucky at alive after five and have needed to use preparation h in the morning every time.

I am so sick of this Jersey Shore epicenter that I could throw up. Why hasn't the D.E.A. brought down Durkin and the BMG mafia there yet? That place is nothing but criminal.

Find myself wondering why Brittany Cason didn't write this up in her fifth grade reading level blog.

Doesn't she have lots of free time after getting fired off the radio at 95.1?

Wondered what happened to her radio gig... turned it on this morning and heard two dudes. AA5 was great when it was at Wachovia full time. Now, when it shifts to EC, it's nothing but kids. I thought the original idea was to get professionals out to socialize. Most professionals have been run off by the EC...

Wait...that was Cason on 95.1?? I seriously thought it was the Otis guy's pre-pubescent son that they were letting on. Wow.
